In addition, we offer smaller workshops during the year. Tentative time frames are September 2008 and January 2009.

These conferences are designed to enhance your skills and to energize you as a PTA leader. Informative "how to" workshops for those serving as president, treasurer, financial secretary, secretary, parliamentarian, auditor and historian are planned. Special workshops may include Membership, Legislation, Reflections, and Web site creation. A Spanish language workshop for leaders may also be included. Look for forums on Leadership and Boardsmanship, Fundraising, Wellness and Health, Conflict Resolution, Newsletter creation, and the "No Child Left Behind" program.

In addition, as a service to conference participants, an Exhibitors' Alley will be set up on site. This feature of the conference will let you connect with some of your favorite non-profit agencies and fund raising vendors as well as some exciting new ones. Representatives of both non-profit organizations and commercial vendors will be on hand with information and materials you can take back to your school communities. These resources will give you a head start in planning for the next school year.

We also encourage you to attend the California State PTA convention, held in northern and southern California in alternate years. The CAPTA convention offers in-depth training in many more areas of parent involvement in the educational community as well as chances for delegates to vote on resolutions and legislative platforms and policies. Providing the financial ability for delegates to attend State PTA convention should be a priority for every unit. Contact your Peralta District PTA convention chairman for more information.
